This is an article which describes on how to install wordpress blog on XAMPP server:
1) Download XAMPP from this URL:
http://apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html
2) Install XAMPP- Double Click xampp-win32-?.?.?-installer.exe to launch the installer.
3) Click “Next” to Continue -> Set the Destination Folder and click “Next”.
4) Select the Apache & MySQL as Service And Click on “Install”.
5) Once the installation is Completed…you must see the message “Services Started” then Click “OK”.
6) Apache & MySql must be Started if they are not then you must Click “Start”.
7) XAMPP icon must be on system tray.
Check the Xampp Installation. For that type http://localhost on the address bar of web browser.
9) Create a database and create a user and grant all privileges to the user of this database.
10) Open Xampp Control Panel then Click “Admin” for Apache.
11) Select PHPMyAdmin and grant all the previliges to that wordpress database user.
12) Install WordPress
* Extract WordPress files to the “htdocs” folder in Xampp installation folder
* Rename “wp-config-sample.php” to “wp-config.php”
* Open “wp-config.php” and fill in the database information and save the file.
13) Now Open: http://localhost/wordpress Now you can see “wordpress” Installation. Type your Blog Title & Your Mail.
14) The Second Step Note username and password Click Here to log in
15) WordPress Admin Login Enter Username and Password. Click Login
16) Blog Dashboard Click on “Visit site” to view blog.
